Lakes Area Police report a number of calls from citizens concerned about neighborhood animals out in the cold, and none resulted in any charges. Animal care was looked into by officers and all were being properly fed and provided shelter.

A juvenile suspect was booked January 1 after officers responded to a report of a seriously hurt, unconcious man at an address on Matthew Drive in Chisago City, who had allegedly been assaulted. January 1 firefighters with Rush City went to a house fire on Rush Point Drive about 1 a.m. Inhabitants were removing items from danger when responders arrived. Fire seemed to be in the chimney.

A disruptive female was reported Jan. 1 at Scooter’s Pub in Chisago City and the 27-year-old was jailed.

Also, Roadhouse reported a “group” that was threatening to fight but when the sirens could be heard, the bartender reported the parties that had been yelling at each other fled the business. Officers last week responded to one report of an attempted suicide.

Sheriff’s deputies and officers handled dozens of car accidents/incidents, many on I-35. January 2 report of a break-in at Rush City Mini-storage on Fairfield Ave. Two people were cited for fishing offenses on Goose Lake in Fish Lake Township, Jan 3. One for no license and the other for over limit. January 5 report of theft of items from Little Lake fishing shack.
