Robert Innes Tangen died peacefully December 28, 2013 in Tucson, Arizona at the University of Arizona Medical Center after a year-long battle with health issues.
He was born May 10, 1935 in Taylors Falls, MN to Lucius and Florence Tangen. Bob enlisted in the Army in 1954 and was stationed in Germany for two years during the Korean War. He was a member of the Wisconsin American Legion Post 143. Bob married Marilyn Charlotte Tangen in 1957. They were best friends and fishing partners for 56 years. Bob and Marilyn lived in St. Croix Falls for over 25 years until Bob’s retirement as Supervisor for Midwestern Gas Transmission, a division of Tenneco, where he worked for over 30 years. During retirement, they enjoyed spending their time, in Mexico, Alaska, and the St. Croix River Valley. For the past 10 years they have also enjoyed the sunny, warm days at their homes in Green Valley, Arizona and Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by family and friends. His passions included hunting, fishing, and traveling.
Besides his wife Marilyn; Bob is survived by his three daughters, Jane (Matt) Larson of Willow, AK, Barb Tangen of Willmar, MN, Beth (Don) Arvold of Colfax, WI. He also leaves one granddaughter, Rebecca; three grandsons, Jake, Nick and Zack and two great-grandchildren, Renee and Liam. Memorial Service 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taylors Falls, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. A reception will follow the service at the American Legion Post 143 in St. Croix Falls, WI. Arrangements by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, Minnesota.
