John A. Jackson, of Shafer, died Friday July 18 at Christian Community Home in Osceola, at the age of 81.
John was born April 13, 1933 at the family farm in Franconia Township to Lott and LuLu Jackson.  He graduated from Taylors Falls High School in 1951 and then from the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus with a degree in agriculture.  John farmed all his life in Franconia Twp.  He served on many boards including Chisago Lakes Fire Insurance, East Central Electrical Co-op., and the Franconia Town Board.  John even had his picture on the front page of the New York Times ringing the bell on the Franconia Town Hall for an election.  In his free time he collected old cars, milk cans, gas engines and was an area historian.
John was preceded in death by his parents Lott and Lulu and his nephew John Holmberg.  He is survived by his sister Cynthia Holmberg of Taylors Falls, brother Charles Jackson of Taylors Falls, nieces Ann (John) Wilson, Tara Jackson and Sarah (Will) Spencer.
Memorial service 11 AM Wednesday July 23 at First Lutheran Church in Taylors Falls.  Family was to greet friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in Kahbakong Cemetery.  Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home.  www.grandstrandfh.com
