Early visitors to the annual Fly-In at Rush City Airport got a little more excitement than usual at the pancake breakfast event. Sunday, June 8. Sheriff’s patrol were sent to Rush City Airport about 8:30 a.m. on a report of a plane crash. Authorities say a 1936 Tailor J2 was attempting to land when it veered off the runway into a drainage ditch and broke its propellor and sustained landing gear damage. The pilot from Amery, Wisconsin, was unhurt, the sheriff’s department said. FAA investigators are reviewing the incident.
A juvenile male was transported to Regions Hospital after crashing his ATV in an alleged fleeing incident June 2 about 6 p.m.
A deputy was trying to detain two ATVs being operated at a high rate of speed on Tern Avenue and 360th, Amador Township. One ATV operator stopped and the other boy took- off onto #81 northbound. As the suspect tried to turn off into a field, the ATV hit a piece of wood and flipped, the report stated.
