School's out, time to go to the park; what has 1 million views? We do!

The good folks at Maranatha Chisago Lakes Church would like to help you and your children celebrate the end of the long school year.  On June 7, they have graciously decided to put on a wonderful party for kids.  There will be bouncy houses, snacks, face painting, games and much more.  The cost is free, so why not bring your kids out to blow off some steam and have a great time?  The party is at Moberg Park, Chisago City,  from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

On June 21, local motorcycle riders are ALL invited to join together and take a relaxing 60 mile ride. Riders will ride the "Swedish Ring" which is almost 60 miles exactly.  If interested, riders are meeting at Anthony's Pizza at 7:30 a.m.  The ride will conclude at The Northern Bar and Grill in Chisago City around 11 a.m.  If I can secure a bike, I am planning on riding myself.  For more information, call the Chisago Lakes Chamber at 651 257 1177.

As I was going over our numbers from last year, I was comparing internet and Facebook numbers.  I found one statistic that knocked me off my chair (literally).  Chisagocountypress.com had over 1 million page views last year.  One million.  I had to go back and check it three times to make sure my old eyes were not going bad.  Yep, I was right 1 million.  I am speechless.  Then I started thinking.  All of those businesses out there that think internet advertising is the way to go, did you read what I wrote in the last sentence?  If you want exposure, can you tell me, where else in Chisago County can you get 1 million page views? The answer is plain as day.  Advertising on the County Press website is the BEST place to advertise your business, bar none.  Give us a call at 651-257-5115 or email us at [email protected].  You will be blown away at how affordable our internet advertising prices are.

Our community has lost another great person.  Mike Shanahan of Chisago City passed away over the weekend.  Many of you will not recognize the name, but many of you who have lived here for years definitely recognize the name Shanahan.  Mike and his brother Dan ran a very successful masonry company--Shanahan Masonry.
I have known Mike since I was in sixth grade - that’s 1979 in case you were wondering.  Mike is (yes is) one of the nicest, most grounded people I have ever met.  His family and his “secret” farm in Lanesboro were the most important things in his life.  Mike and Dan are responsible for hundreds if not thousands of projects in the Chisago Lakes area.
He was a former Chisago City fireman.  He was a football coach. He was a great husband.  He was a tremendous father. He will be missed.

The Press this week has a great full page ad called Summer Fun.  On the page, you will find great ideas for your family this summer.  We have some great ideas along with some businesses offering wonderful specials for your family fun this year.  We hope you enjoy it and take advantage of as many offers as you can.
First State Bank of Wyoming is celebrating a huge milestone next week. They have hit the 100 year mark.  Very impressive this day and age, even more impressive considering the economic funk we have hopefully came out of recently.  I personally know people at the bank, and I can vouch that they are wonderful people.
Beginning next Wednesday, they will be serving cake all day long.  There are costume characters who will read to the kids at 10 a.m. followed by a picnic lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Thursday evening at 7 p.m. the Teddy Bear Band will take the stage.  Friday the folks at First State Bank of Wyoming invite you to an ice cream social that runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Finally, you can register to win a 16 GB iPad.  You might want to skip this, because I plan on winning it. I am kidding of course (hopefully not).
Congratulations on the great accomplishment!

If you know anybody looking for a little extra cash and who has some time to spare on the weekend, I would urge them to call us here at the Press.  If you like to be out and about, could use some extra money, and have a valid drivers license, please give me a call.  My number is651 257 5115.
