Congratulations to the boys hockey team for their trip to state. Although they ended up losing the game, it was still wonderful seeing them down there on the ice. Chisago Lakes brought a bunch of busses filled with students, all ready to cheer loudly. If I had to estimate (which I do horribly) I would guess there were maybe 1,000 or more Chisago Lakes fans in attendance. It was really great seeing everybody wearing their green and gold. The crowd was into it, the team was, it was just amazing. Very proud to be from this community.

In a couple of weeks, Wild Mountain will host its annual Monster Slush Fest. What is a slush fest? It is a way to say goodbye to the ski and snowboard season and welcome in Spring. Entrants ski and snowboard down a hill into a giant pool of water and try to skip over the water. Usually they end up with a dramatic crash into the water which the crowd loves. It is a hilarious event to be a spectator, but if you would like to participate, you must have a season pass and a non-perishable food item. The event happens on March 29 and registration begins at noon. There is also a costume contest for kids ages 12 and under and 13 and older. If you are a lover of the fish fry like me, you will be happy that St. Bridget's is once again hosting their Friday Fish Fry. From now until April 11, you can enjoy fresh fried fish with coleslaw, french fries, a roll, dessert and a beverage. Yes, for you health nuts, there is baked fish as well. If your kids turn their noses up to fish, they also serve meatless spaghetti. These folks do a great job and the food is fantastic.

If you are one of the many people that pick the County Press up at the store to read, I have an offer for you. For a limited time, we are offering delivery of the Press to your mailbox for only $11. For $11, you will receive all of the latest news and sports updates right to your home. Then, if you enjoyed getting it at your home, you will receive a blue card in the mail asking you to renew along with all of our loyal readers. It is cheaper to own a subscription than to purchase the paper in a store. I urge you to take advantage of this great offer by calling 651-257-5115.

I am once again taking donated used clothing to supply the homeless shelter. I realize that people are (fingers crossed) starting to try on their spring stuff.  If you are like me, you will find that you have outgrown some clothing. Instead of tossing it in the trash or making garage rags, why not donate it to a person that would appreciate it more than you know? These folks, who are in a tough time in their lives right now, with the help from you and I, can be helped. Some of the clothing that you donate(d) will be worn to job interviews, which in turn will hopefully change their life for the good. If you have any clothing at all that you would like to donate, please bring it to the Press. If you can not get here, just give me a call, I make housecalls. Thank you and God bless you for helping.

The wrestlers will once again be holding their fourth annual wrestling extravaganza next month. What does extravaganza mean? It means a night of dining with friends, refreshments, and tons of prizes given away. Cash prizes will be given away that will range from $50 to a grand prize of $5,000. Along with great odds of winning cash, there will be other raffles that will include firearms, jerseys, tickets to professional sporting events, jewelry, designer purses and much much more. The food is always fantastic and more than enough. The cost of the dinner may sound a little steep at $100 per couple, but if you look at your odds of winning (only 350 tickets will be sold), they are pretty great. Plus the most important part of whole night is all proceeds benefit the Chisago Lakes wrestling program. If you would like to purchase tickets, please give Deb a call at 651-230-6414 or email her at [email protected]. Hopefully we will see you there!
