Lakes Area Police were called to a property damage crash in the Primary School parking lot, March 6. A snowmobiler had struck two parked cars. When the officer arrived the 32-year-old female who was identified as the operator, had fled the scene and two children riding on the snowmobile had also left the scene. Authorities eventually located the suspect. The crash was reported about 3:40 p.m.

March 8 Lakes Area Police booked a suspect for assault. The suspect was restrained by the person who called 9-1-1. A third person, the victim, was transported to Fairview in Wyoming. The number of reports of person-on-person violence increased over the week-- there were also calls to the middle school and high school in Lindstrom for assault incidents and a family member assaulting relatives was also detained in a Lindstrom incident. A driver who was observed running a red light eastbound on Hwy. 8 at #36 was finally stopped by a Lakes Area officer after the driver had headed south on Old Towne Road and struck Scooters building. The driver was having a “diabetic emergency” and medical care was administered. He was released to his daughter.

One suicidal incident was called in to Lakes Area for the week. Party was taken to Riverside Medical Center. A fire at the Chisago Lakes School District Hunts Transportation bus barn in Lindstrom. Reported March 3. Damage to a gas pump started the small fire.
