Lambert Schipper

Lambert “Bert” Schipper, age 96 died at Providence Place in Minneapolis, MN, on May 16, 2014. He is survived by his children Cindy, Barb Jobe (Russ), David (De) and Kathleen Karnowski (Mark) as well as seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) and his two children Steve (Donna) and Becky. Visitation and the memorial service at Bethlehem Covenant Church, 43rd Avenue South, Minneapolis MN Tuesday, May 20 at 11 am.

Interment at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Bert was born in Taylors Falls, MN on December 22, 1917 to Klaus and Lizie Schipper. After graduating from Taylors Falls High School, he joined the Air Force and served as an airplane mechanic during WWII. After the war he married Elizabeth “Betty” Schoell and worked as a machinist for Minneapolis Moline before buying the land that is now Ki-Chi-Saga Park in Chisago Lake Township and becoming a farmer. Bert was a dairy farmer until he retired in 1984. Schipper moved to a home near Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis and lived there, until moving into Providence Place with his wife, Betty in 2012. Memorials are preferred to either the Bethlehem Covenant Church or the Providence Place Recreation Department.
