Nicholas L. Petros, age 72, of Lindstrom, MN, passed away on May 24, 2014.
Nicholas was born on July 2, 1941 in Robbinsdale to parents, Peter and Marilyn (Rake) Petros. He attended Minneapolis schools and graduated from North High. Nicholas worked for Shuler Shoes and also drove truck before taking a job as a bus driver for the MTC where he drove bus for 21 years. He was married by a justice of the peace to Josephine “Jo” Whitmer and the union was later blessed at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Blaine. Nicholas enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, hunting and going camping but truly loved spending time with his family. He and Jo also served as foster parents for Anoka County for 27 years. After moving to their townhome, he especially enjoyed cooking for his neighbors for their monthly gatherings.
Nicholas is survived by his wife, Josephine “Jo” of Lindstrorm; children, Brenda (Steven) Olson of Apple Valley; Jolynn (Chad) Carpenter of Scandia; Angela (Jordan) Savageau of Blaine and Peter (Sandra) Petros of St. Cloud; he is also survived by his 20 grandchildren, brothers, John Petros of TX; Terry (Marjean) Petros of TX and Tom Petros of TX; sister, Connie Warren (John White) of TX and his aunt, Katherine Stellmach of Minneapolis. Nicholas is preceded in death by his parents Peter Petros in 2002, Marylynn Petros in 2005; brothers Ron Petros in 2001, Peter Petros in 2002; grandchildren Leah Petros in 2011 and Gabriel Petros in 2012.
Memorial Mass 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindstrom. Visitation one hour prior to service. A private family interment will be at a later date.
