The Northwoods Humane Society had a great turnout for its fall fundraiser, Pet Fest at Chisago City Community Center, Staurday October 25. Dogs and their humans were encouraged to come in costume and this spider-dog, above, didn’t seem to mind his get-up at all...there was one “referee dog” brave enough to take a whiff, but most of the other dogs were not so welcoming of the creature. There were booths for pets and owners to tryout skills at carnival games and every 15 minutes you could do a cake walk. Everything from homemade dog treats to pecan pie could be purchased at the bake sale. Visitors could meet with pet care provider Bonnie Anderson, HPC Pet Sitting; or talk with animal dentistry students and veterainarian Dr. Ann Edmonds. Chuck & Don’s pet store had a display and treats, and you could ask about behavior issues with a Bark Busters dog trainer. Northwoods Humane Society is at 7153 Lake Boulevard (Hwy 8), see www.northwoodshs.org.
