There were a number of fleeing incidents that sheriff’s personnel responded to and assisted agencies with over the week.

The state patrol called the county about 8:30 p.m. for an assist on a suspect running from a rollover crash, Sunday August 31 near the North Branch and I-35 interchange.  

The sheriff K-9 unit located the suspect on the west side of the freeway, who was taken into custody by state patrol.  Details were not yet available.

Also, the same day sheriff’s patrol assisted state patrol on I 35 near Athens Trail Lent Township, for apprehending a driver fleeing from an accident scene about 4 p.m.  No details available from state patrol.

And, August 31 a sheriff patrol deputy attempted a traffic stop of a dirtbike at 440th and Poor Farm Road and the bike rider took off on the bike. The 47-year-old male suspect entered agricultural property,  but surrendered when the authorities contacted him by cellphone.  

Lakes Area Police had several medical and false alarm calls over the week, a theft of services report due to somebody dumping unauthorized trash in dumpster, and a sickly skunk was shot in town by an officer.

August 30 two males reportedly got into a fist fight at the Chisago Lakes Area Library and officers arrived to find one suspect fleeing into a wooded area. The minor-aged male was halted using a TASER when he refused an order to stop. He was released to parents for mental health care.

Officers utilized stop sticks and (pursuit intervention technique) PIT to get a suspected drunk driver into custody, Tuesday August 26 in Lindstrom. The incident began with a call of a domestic incident about 8:40p.m. A 27-year old man was arrested.
