A county patrol deputy took a call reporting a theft and the suspects’ vehicle fleeing from the scene in North Branch about 7:50 p.m. September 20.  The incident originated at the Nike store in the outlet mall.

The deputy made dispatch aware the suspect SUV was southbound on I-35 and the deputy and a Wyoming police squad stopped the suspect vehicle as it went off the southbound lane, onto the County Road 22 ramp.  Quantities of merchandise were recovered and three suspects were arrested without incident.   Preliminary reports stated a methamphetamine pipe found in the SUV was also seized.

This is the second Nike store theft/chase in recent weeks. Both times the fleeing vehicle has been pulled over and arrests made.  

Lakes Area Police took a call when the power was out due to a tree limb down on a line at Park Street. The incident happened about 6:15 p.m. during a short-lived storm Saturday, September 20.

A Lindstrom Beach Park surveillance camera was stolen.  The item is similar to a “trail cam” and is estimated at $300.  It was first missed by public works staff Sept. 19.
A car driver reported hitting a bear Sept. 18 about 11 p.m. on I-35 near North Branch and the animal was found dead in the east ditch. Driver declined medical care.
