Lakes Area Police handled  complaints from Chisago City and Lindstrom about outdoor burning...there were two incidents where officers found unauthorized materials inside burn barrels. Warnings were issued. Most piles consisted of leaves and brush.  Sheriff’s deputies also responded to two calls of grass fires, one in Sunrise Township on River Road March 28 and one south of Lindstrom.  

Burning permits are required this spring, you can check with the DNR or local fire warden or in the city, call city hall and get the rules first.
 
Lakes Area compost site for use by cities within the sewer treatment commission yard debris disposal is not open yet, due to mud and unstable access road. Officials say the site north of Chisago City may not open for a week or so, depending on weather.  

Taylors Falls residents’ compost site, on the west side of town,  is slated to open this Saturday, April 4 at 9 a.m.

March 29
Braham Fire Department and Lakes Gas Co. employees responded to a call to a Nessel Twsp. address that a propane tank had blown over, rupturing a line connected to the house.  Gas appliances were shut down and tank was repaired without incident. Incident reported about 7 p.m.

March 28 a home burglary reported at Nathan Lane, south of Lindstrom.

March 26 a Nessel Township farmer was under investigation by the Cambirdge DNR officers for allegedly setting a grass fire without a burn permit.  Firefighters were called to the Acacia Trail farm about 9 p.m.

A theft of patio furniture worth $1,000 reported from an address on Falcon Avenue. Items include round table and bench.

Possible case of tax fraud and identity theft reported by resident of rural Center City.

A 400 gallon milk tank stolen from a site on Glader and Olympic Trail.

March 23 a report of an IRS-related phone scam telling the complainant that if she didn’t send money there would be a lawsuit. The originating phone number 202-470-2464 that came up on caller ID is a known scam.

A Shoreview man was arrested for false imprisonment after allegedly forcing his ex-wife to take him to the bank and use an ATM card to withdraw funds March 23. Wyoming Police apprehended the suspect, 24, and he’s being held pending charges including violating a protection order and no valid license. The woman was unhurt.
