Arlene C. Clemens, age 89 of Chisago City, died April 7, 2015 after suffering a stroke April 5.  Arlene raised three children in White Bear Lake, MN, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  In addition to being a homemaker she volunteered for many organizations in the church and community.  These include the American Legion Auxiliary, civil defense preparedness, American Cancer Society, and started a sick room equipment loan program.  Later in life she worked at several jewelry stores and various other businesses in the Twin Cities area.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake for many years.  After moving to Chisago City she joined Trinity Lutheran where she participated in many volunteer activities and church programs.  She had a life-long interest in history and science, loving to go to museums and historical sites.  Gardening was also one of her hobbies throughout her life.  

Arlene is preceded in death by daughter Carol Clemens, her brother-in-law SA (Ben) Benjamin, and her parents Alice and Carl Olson.  

She is survived by her sister Phyllis Benjamin and brother Allen (Sandy) Olson; daughter Carla (Gary) Birchem; son Bruce (Jean) Clemens; grandchildren Rhea Boland, Jesse (Melissa) Bollerud, Levi (Rachel) Bollerud, Peter (Meghan) Clemens and Patrick (Missy) Birchem; 10 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom with visitation 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom and one hour prior to service at church.  Interment at South Green Lake Cemetery in Chisago City.
