Zac Pack movie was awesome; blue cards are arriving soon

I wanted to take a minute to thank you.  Thank you for supporting another great cause in our community.  This week I am referring to the Zac Pack Mall Cop 2 movie premier. By now almost everyone knows the story of Zac Bartz and his courageous battle with a very painful disease including cancer.  He became our (the community's ) hero.  His fight was done with grace and a smile.  His family, through faith, family and friends, gave us all a standard to live by.  Everything about Zac's journey provided spiritual growth for many of us.

This could explain why over 800 residents packed the theaters at White Bear Township Theaters on Saturday.  They were there to support Zac. He may be gone, but it is blatantly obvious he is not forgotten.  This community never ceases to amaze me how it supports its own.  Thank you, I am proud to say I am from here.

This is usually the spot where I refer to anything big happening in our area.  Let me think, hmmm, nothing recently that I can remember.  I am kidding of course. If you look at the lower right side of this page you will see what I wrote.  Please take it in the right context.

This week you will have received your blue cards in the mail.  The cards are part of our annual subscription renewal campaign.  The cards are simply reminders that your subscription renewal will come due in early May.  If you have already mailed in your early renewal coupon and still received a blue card, please just simply discard the blue card.

Sometimes there’s a two day window when we couldn't pull every early subscription card that we received.  I apologize in advance for any confusion this might cause.

Saturday is the first of the big recycling days.  While most of the cities will be holding their recycling days in May, Center City is getting a jump on the cleaning season.

The recycling event will take place at the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church lower parking lot Saturday beginning at 8 am to 2 pm.  This is your chance to get rid of any appliances, electronics, furniture, snowmobiles, autos, batteries and scrap metals.  Everything will be hauled away to the correct facility for a small fee.  On top of decluttering your home and yard, you will be helping raise funds for the church and its many activities.

If you are looking for a good local map, you are in luck.  The new Chisago County maps are printed and available.  You can also  download the map digitally or buy one from the county for only three dollars.  Just head to the county website www.co.chisago.mn.us to access the city/township maps.

Chisago Lakes High School and the Mississippi 8 conference will be hosting its conference art fair at the school in Lindstrom this year.  The art exhibits will be displayed in the main gym, in early May, (see upcomings)  from 3 pm to 7 pm.  Admission is free, so come out and enjoy some great artwork by  youth.

Is there anything more frustrating than trying to sell something?  In my case, I am referring to my boat.  My boat to me is like your dog to you.  It has been everywhere with me.  we have been through good times and some rough times.  So when someone comes to look at it, I feel like I am judging them.  Like I am selling a dog to a stranger, I find myself judging them.  “Will this person take care of it?”  “Will this person change its oil and wax it?”  Then out I blurt, “I think I will keep it”.  Thus begins the long stroll back to the house with me making up the excuse,  “I guess they didn’t like it”.
