Please be careful on the lakes; what is going on at the beach?

Please be careful on the lakes; what is going on at the beach?

If you are a resident of Lent Township, I have a reminder for you.  Please remember to get out and vote Tuesday.  There is a special election to fill two new supervisor seats. Currently, there are four people running for the seats.  This is your chance to vote someone in who  you feel has the same priorities you do.

As tempting as it is to get out on the lakes (I have been out twice now), remember a couple of things.

The first is, that fishing season is not for another nine days yet.  Yes, you can catch Crappies and Sunfish, but that is it.  If you saw Dan Brown's article last week, you saw there are some huge crappies in our lakes.  If you are hungering to bass fish or even walleye fish, be prepared.  Be prepared to get a nice ticket from the Minnesota DNR.

Believe me, no one wants to get out and fish more than I do, but rules are rules.  The opener will be here in no time.

The second item about the lakes I would like to stress is the temperature.  The lakes are still very cold.  Why am I telling you this? Because I have seen many canoes and kayaks out on the lake.  Most of the people  were wearing life preservers, but some were not. If you were to fall into the water, it would not take long for your body to go into shock.  If you are going to be out there, please wear a life jacket.

If you have a youngster that enjoys playing baseball or an even younger ones that like playing it in the yard, I have got something for you.  The Chisago Lakes Wildcat baseball team would like to invite any and all kids to the game tomorrow Friday, May 1.  The game begins at 6 p.m. with Buffalo being the opponent.  Pat Collins has stepped down as head coach and Jay Brown, who has been Pat's assistant forever, is now coaching the team.  The event is great for the kids.  They get really cheap food, raffle prizes are given out all game long, and they get to see their heroes play baseball.  Oh, and the best part?  It is free.  Grab the kids and come out to the field by the football-stadium/ice arena for some great baseball and good fun.

Have you been thinking about advertising in the Press and thought "nobody reads the paper anymore"?  Well, we have some advertisers that would tell you otherwise.  In fact, the City of Lindstrom ran an ad for a job opening recently.  Do you think anybody applied?  How about 120 applicants?  That’s the result.  We have another realtor in the area who will only use the County Press because he gets such a great response.  So what are you waiting for?  We can help you!  Wether you are trying to sell a car, a house, or find a new employee, we can help.  If you own a business such as a restaurant, bar, retail, it really doesn't matter, we can help.  We are here for the community and all who reside and work in it.  Call us at 651-257-5115, we can and will help you.

Many of you have been asking what is taking place at the beach by Meredee’s Bistro in Lindstrom?  I am proud to say there is a new business coming to the Chisago Lakes area.  Mark Wachter, who lives in Lindstrom, will soon be opening Midwest JetPack.  Midwest JetPack is a really cool event where you strap a jet pack on your back,  and fly through the air above the lake.  The jetpack has a hose that draws water from the lake and propells you into the sky.  It is a hoot.

If you get a chance, look on our website and click on his tile ad.  It will take you to his website where you can view videos on how to fly.  I am confident Mark will be successful.  And he has made the lake look great in the meantime.

If you are out and about on Mother’s Day weekend, you might see some cars driving slowly in the area.  I ask that you please have patience.  Most likely, these people are on the pottery tour which takes place that weekend.  Many of the visitors are not from our area and probably trying to find a certain place.  If you would like to take the tour, I would encourage it.  We have some amazing artists in our area.  Go to minnesotapotters.com to find locations and directions.
