Ki Chi Saga Days are upon us; there is something new at Wally's

I truly hope we have some nice weather this weekend. We have had our share of odd August rains lately.  The reason for the hope is simple, Ki Chi Saga Days are here.  That's right, the second largest celebration in our area is up and going.  I am sure the weather will cooperate and you and I will have a great time.

So what is Ki Chi Saga Days anyways?  Glad you asked. Ki Chi Saga Days is Chisago City's annual summer celebration that celebrates all things Chisago City.  Beginning today, the celebration kicks off with a huge city-wide garage sale.  Frankie's will be hosting their annual fishing tournament Thursday evening.  There will be a cribbage tournament held at the Wagon Wheel Cafe on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Friday, Frankie's is holding a pro bass tournament that anyone can participate in.  See their website www.frankies.net for more information.
Central Bank invites the public for their customer appreciation picnic. The picnic will have great food, fun things to do and great people.  The picnic runs from 11-2 p.m. at Central Bank.
At 5 p.m., in Moberg Park, you are invited to bring the kids to a puppet show “Way of the Monarch”.  The show is free for all.
Grab you pails and shovels and head to Paradise Park Friday night. The annual Sandcastle Contest begins at 7:30 p.m. with prizes being awarded at the end.
Stick around Paradise Park after the contest for face painting and a free family movie in the park.  The movie this year is Big Hero 6.  It is an animated film that is great for all ages.  There will be food, ice cream, and cotton candy available.

Saturday is the big day, and it is filled with fun events from sun-up to sundown.  At 8 a.m., you are invited to take part in the annual 5K run/walk held at Zion Lutheran Church, on Old Towne Road.  Sponsored by Kendall Howard, the race is usually packed so please get there a little early.

At 9:45 a.m., at Chisago City Community Center, there is a really neat event.  It is aptly called “Yoga for a Cause”.  You are asked to please bring a package of 4 roll toilet paper as admission. The purpose of the admission fee is to replenish the food shelf’s need for toilet paper.  I urge you to please come to the event. If you would like to be generous, you can certainly just stop by and drop off a package or two of toilet paper, it will be more than appreciated.

Grab your friends and search for Moberg’s Hidden Horn.  sponsored by Mack Landscaping.  The horn is hidden in Chisago City, find it and collect a great prize. Clues are posted on city Hall window. You are required to have a Ki Chi Saga button to claim the prize.

There is a skateboard competition at Chuckie Lindquist Park that begins at 10 a.m.  also at 10, grab the kids and head to Paradise Park. Frankies is hosting their kids fishing tournament with prizes awarded for every fish caught.

Back in Moberg Park there is free face painting, free crazy hair, a concert by “The Farmers Daughter.  Little Miss Ki Chi Saga will be crowned at noon, so plese bring your cameras.

Ladies (and guys) get ready - Elvis is in the building.  He will take the stage in Moberg Park at 3 p.m.  You might want to get there early to get a spot close to the stage.  Elvis will perform from 3-5 p.m.

There is a great local art show that will be held in the Community Center from 4-8 p.m.

Frankies will be hosting the street dance which will feature “West Side Band.”

Fireworks will be Saturday night at dusk,  off Paradise Park.

Sunday has more arts and crafts in the park, as well as a concert by Blue Drifter’s Quartet and a magic show by Karl Achilles.

At 2 p.m., the Grand Day Parade meanders its way up Old Towne Road.

Finally the celebration wraps up with a concert in the park and the very-popular pie eating contest at 4:30 p.m.

The great people over at Wally Carlson's BP have some exciting news.  They have purchased a state of the art car wash.  State of the art wash?  That's right.  It is called the Razor Touchless Car Wash and it is amazing.  They are having a grand opening for the car wash for the next two weeks.

You are invited August 25 for the official Grand Opening with refreshments being served and drawings all day long.  During the next two weeks, they are offering specials on car washes, a super price on propane filling, specials on pre-pay car washes and a great full-service repair shop.  Come in and see just how great the new wash is, who knows, maybe you will leave with a prize?

Thanks to those of you who took advantage of our Facebook subscrition promotion.  Keep your eyes out for more great specials.
