Dolores Byrne

Dolores Scholastica Byrne (formerly Narikawa, maiden name Lidberg), February 20, 1933 – November 21, 2015

Dolores Scholastica Byrne passed on to a better place after a four month battle with non-hodgkins lymphoma.  She left us while in the presence of her husband, Leo, on November 21, 2015.  She grew up in St. Paul, and later lived most of her life in Chisago County, most recently in Stacy, Minnesota.  She married Lawrence Narikawa, who preceded her in death in 1972.  She married Leo Byrne in 1973, and they’ve enjoyed over four decades volunteering for numerous causes, and raising their children.

Preceded in death by parents William and Bernice Lidberg (nee White),  brother Raymond Lidberg, and husband Lawrence Narikawa, Dolores is survived husband Leo, custodial great-grandson Nicholas, children David (Judy) Lidberg, Lawrence Narikawa (Margaret Wagner, Victoria Holbert), Malia Narikawa, Susan Narikawa (John Kobler), Naomi Narikawa (Don Lanoux), Diana Mach (George); step-children Leo Byrne (Danielle), Amy Jensen, and Kim Mattson (Michael); 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Dolores volunteered at Ancker Hospital, cub scouts, day activity center for disabled children, American Red Cross, St. Paul Police Reserve, Civil Air Patrol, St. Paul Humane Society, Lee & Rose Warner Nature Center, Minnesota Zoo, Dodge Nature Center, Minnesota Science Museum, and Wild River State Park.  But her most rewarding experiences came in raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandson.
The family expresses profound thanks to the staff of Fairview Hospital – Wyoming, Meadows on Fairview – Wyoming, Birchwood Health Care Facility – Forest Lake, and Interim Hospice.  While it’s their job to provide care for their patients, so many staff genuinely cared, not only for Dolores, but her family as well.  We also wish to thank Pastor Ed and Pastor Mary Ellen of St. John’s Lutheran Church – Stacy for their support and spiritual guidance.

A memorial service/celebration of life will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 31075 Genesis Avenue, Stacy, Minnesota at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015 with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to service.  Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
