Lakes Area Police issued a number of overnight parking citations last week.  There is no overnight parking on city streets until spring,  to facilitate snowplowing, etc.

January 10 A fire call at 7319 500th St. rural Rush City about 6:15 p.m.

Authorities responded to an unattended death at a residence in Chisago City.  Coroner is reviewing.

January 9 authorities received calls from a couple people who ad been informed by ficticious representatives of police and sheriff departments that they owed money for outstanding warrants, or for failure to report for jury duty, etc... The callers identified themselves as being with an area law enforcement agency and requested money be sent.  

This is a scam.  No law enforcement agency will demand money by phone.

Garage fire reported in Lent Township about 7 p.m. A dog is missing and it’s not known if he ran or perished.  Firefighters from Stacy-Lent were on scene for hours.  No sign of foul play, owner said he used a propane heater in garage and by the time her smelled fire the garage was engulfed.

Also Jan 9 Sheriff’s deputies came upon juveniles drinking while checking fish houses about 11 p.m. on North Center Lake near the Nelson Point area. Several citations issued.

North Branch Police had three calls of suicidal persons for the week.

Thefts from ShopKo, Holiday gas drive-offs, etc. reported.

January 8 about 8 a.m. firefighters were called to a car fire at Grand Avenue in the high school lot.

A bicyclist was hit and injured on Coventry Drive, North Branch, about 6:15 p.m.  The driver of the suspect vehicle is being sought.  Bike rider went to Fairview emergency room for back injuries.

January 7 theft from East Rush Lake fish house included vexilar FL8 and Eskimo  8 inch auger.  Also, residential burglar on Dogwood Avenue.
