Sheriff staff analysts will present local crime statistics and helpful information related to crime tracking tools available on-line, at a special public informational event Monday night, July 27 at North Branch Library, starting at 7 p.m.
Crime data and yearly trends will also be presented at Chisago Lakes Area Library August 4, at 7 p.m. You are invited.
Incidents Report
July 18 stormy weather overnight Friday to Saturday knocked down a powerline on Old Towne Road about 1:30 a.m. The line was live and arcing. Chisago City firefighters were dispatched and Xcel handled repairs.
Lightning is believed to have caused a fire that destroyed a home in Rush City on 11th Street. Call came in about 1:30 a.m. Rush City Fire Dept. responded.
A report to Lakes Area Police about 11 a.m. on a stolen car from a Lindstrom address (ended up being stolen tabs) had deputies assisting Lakes Area P.D. making an arrest for unauthorized use. Upon stopping the car and detaining the two suspects; four grams of methamphetamine were allegedly located in the occupants’possessions. The female suspect was taken to Fairview Medical Center for difficulty breathing. The male suspect was booked.
A huge party complete with tented areas and DJ services, in Rushseba Township on 517th, received multiple sheriff’s personnel visits, once for noise which the event organizer said would be turned down...and once for an assault. Ultimately the party was shut down. At least one vehicle was towed for blocking a drive.
Also July 18 a report of a mo-ped stolen from a Rush City address. It is a “Lifa” model red in color.
July 17 a home burglary on 340th Street in Lent Township was reported about 2:30 p.m. A laptop, camcorder, and financial instruments were taken from an enclosed porch. Check card had been illegally used almost immediately at three locations.
A male suspect was cited for tampering with motor vehicles in connection with a complaint from a resident about cars being gone through, on North Elliot in Rush City
July 15 area law enforcement responded to a reported possible drowning on Lake Ellen, by Sven’s Shoes, about 9 p.m. Wyoming Police arived first and learned the man had been yelling for help after having fallen at the dock and was stuck and partially submerged in the water. The address of the incident location was Jocelyn Avenue. The man needed medical care but was able to walk to the ambulance.
July 14 a report of multiple individuals with baseball bats causing a disturbance about 2 a.m. and mutual assist was requested at an address in Stacy. Deputies took one male into custody while local officers maintained a perimeter and met with witnesses to investigate the altercation.
Theft reported of a John Deere windchime and other items from a gravesite at Kahbakong Cemetery.
July 13 a round of stormy weather about 7 p.m. left a tree down in the westbound lane near the Osceola bridge.
A utility wagon was stolen from a Center City address and found dumped near the lake access at North Center.
A break-in reported at offices of Chisago House Restaurant, Taylors Falls. Missing cash was weekend receipts. Investigators found a forced entry through a window.
Lakes Area Police went out to check on a couple of complaints about construction activity before 7 a.m. Builders and their crews are reminded of restrictions on work hours in Chisago City and Lindstrom and to inquire at city hall if unsure.
