Never a shortage of things to do; summer of events winding down
Just an FYI for you. Last week at the North Center boat landing, a local resident launched his boat for a day of fishing. When he came back later that day, he noticed his car exhaust was quite loud. As it turns out, while he was fishing, someone had come and cut his catalytic converter right off his vehicle. I’m not sure what thieves get for converters, but it is a huge cost to the victims. Iâguess what I am asking is that we all keep a vigilant eye out for suspicious activity both at boat launches and other areas that are easy prey for these thieves.
You and your family are invited to come and watch the annual tractor caravan Sunday, August 2.
What is a tractor caravan?â The caravan is made up of a whole bunch of farm tractors traveling across Chisago County and eventually ending up at the Threshing Show Grounds outside of Almelund. âThis is basically the kick off the ever popular Almelund Threshing Show.
Tractors will take the following route, which you are encouraged to set up lawn chairs and view these great tractors and people. It will begin on Keystone Avenue North rural Forest Lake. Then travel on 192nd Street North and turn onto Manning Trail. It will follow Manning to Mayberry Trail North which leads to Lofton Avenue North. The caravan will pass Bone Lake on 238th Street North to Morgan Avenue. It takes a right turn on Co. Rd. 23 (old 83) to Olympic Trail (left). Then a right on 280th Street North and a left on Quinlan Avenue. after a pit stop at the Froberg Farm, the caravan will continue on County Rd. 26 to 310th Street. From there it continues north on County Rd. 9 to County Rd. 15. It will turn right and cross 95 to the Amador Heritage Center for a pit stop. From there it’s a short jaunt east on 95 to the grounds.
The caravan begins at 9 a.m. and will arrive at the Threshing Grounds at approximately 3 p.m.
Iâwas coming from a baseball game this week north on I-35 by Forest Lake. âIâsaw a billboard for Ely, Minnesota that caught my eye. It read “This weekend in Ely, emails are going unanswered and the world is not coming to an end”. Iâlove it. Soon the Silvers will head on vacation to an area that has zero cellphone coverage and I couldn’t be more excited. Iâcan’t wait to see my kids’ faces instead of the top of their heads. Iâwill let you know if our world came to an end.
