Clean-up days are here; it's renewal time once again

Clean-up days are here; it's renewal time once again

This weekend is a big one around the area.  It is the annual Spring clean-up day for Lindstrom, Chisago City, and Shafer.  Chisago City and Lindstrom will be combined once again and the drop off location is Liberty Lane in Chisago City. Head north at Frankie's and you will see the signs.  Shafer's clean-up will take place in the City Hall parking lot.  Chisago City and Lindstrom's will run 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. and Shafer's will run 9 a.m. until noon.  This is your chance to get rid of any and all waste that has been cluttering up your garages, yards, houses, you name it.  Both sites will accept most anything except hazardous materials.

In Chisago City, you are also encouraged to bring household items in good condition. Chisago Lakes Rotary club will be on hand taking donations for Bridging, an organization that assists people transitioning from homeless to a permanent home.  It is a great organization and let's try to fill the Rotary semi trailer.  If you have gently used clothing, linens and purses, Recycled Wardrobes will also be at Chisago City accepting items.

My suggestion to you is get there early.  It does move fairly quickly, but sometimes the line gets pretty long.

The time has come once again to renew most subscriptions.  If you have been renewing your subscription in May in years past, that most likely means yours is due now.  Some people will have a different renewal date depending on when they subscribed the first time.  But for the rest of us, May is the time.  You should have received a blue card in the mail about three weeks ago or more.  All you have to do is simply fill out the card and mail it or drop it off here at the Press.  We will make sure you never miss an edition of the Chisago County Press. It's that simple.  We will be stopping all subscriptions that have yet to pay in two weeks, so if you have been meaning to pay, I would encourage you to do so soon.

If you are a reader of the Press and do not have a subscription, I would encourage you to get one.  Not only do you get the Press delivered to your mailbox, you also receive it at less than what you would pay at the cash register.  It is a win, win.  We love all of our readers and would love to see everyone receive theirs at home if possible.  The Chisago County Press also makes a wonderful gift for someone.  Maybe you have a friend who just can't get out as much as they used to.  Maybe, you have a son or daughter who recently moved back to our area.  Maybe you have parents that live out of our area and you want them to keep up with your community.

There are many sceneraios for making the Chisago County Press a great present for a loved one.  Just give us a call at 651-257-5115, we will be more than happy to help you.  We can even give you a card that says you have received a gift of a subscription from _____.  We have covered all your bases.

What an unbelievable turnout of the community to honor Bobby Sontag.  I have been to a few youth funerals and I am always blown away at the support this community shows.  Bobby’s was the epitome of support.  I am a bad number estimater;  but there were so many for visitation that the line stretched to the Sportsmen’s Club.  One thing is certain, this young man has touched many over his short time here.
