Herman was born February 7, 1928 in White Bear Lake, MN to Algot and Agnes Johnson. He graduated from Taylors Falls High School in 1946. He served in the US Army from June of 1946 to November of 1947. On February 23, 1949 he married his wife Marce in Mason City, IA. He worked as an operating engineer for Shafer Contracting for over 42 years. In his free time he enjoyed antique cars and tractors, inventing, playing cards, the Threshing Party, and along with Frank Lindstrom developed Calendar Isle in Center City.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, sons Norman, Jim, Lee, brother Iver, and sister-in-law Carol Johnson. He is survived by wife Marce, son Daryl (Martha Carlin) Johnson, daughter Barbara (Gordy) Hellpap, grandchildren Ryan (Jenni) Hellpap, Andrew (Gale) Hellpap, Brent (Ashley Kappel) Hellpap, great-granddaughter Trinity Hellpap, brothers Lloyd, Roy (Donna), Harry (Rosemary), sisters Alice (John) Mortenson, Harriet (Edward) Hulsman, numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services were Tuesday May 12 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund. Interment with Military Honors Almelund Cemetery. www.grandstrandfh.com
