Wyoming Police, county patrol squads and Forest Lake Police assisted state patrol at a crash on I-35 May 10 reported about 1:50 p.m. near Wyoming.

The state patrol’s early details are that a 2004 Grand Am, driven by Timothy Rubbelke, 43,  was southbound on I-35 and went out of control, rolled and ended up in the center median, on its rooftop.  There were a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old inside who did not sustain life threatening injuries, and a 24-year-old female passenger also was not seriously hurt, but Rubbelke was described as having sustained serious injuries and was transported.

In police reports for the week-- Lakes Area  fielded three reports of suspected telephone money scams ...one is a caller seeking a payment so you can avoid being arrested, another was a request for money so the “winner” could collect a big prize,  and one was an unidentified complainant who asked for an investigation into money sent to an overseas address.  

Lakes Area Police also responded to a call about people squatting on property on Jeffrey Avenue, south of Chisago City. Officer went to the site May 10,  about 3 a.m. and found five individuals with tents “having a camp out.” They were advised to depart when daylight arrived.

North Branch Police and Isanti County deputies are pursuing leads in a vehicle theft case.  An F150 truck was taken from a Cedar Street address in North Branch,  and was recovered abandoned in Isanti County, where a Cadillac was reported stolen.

May 10 a car was found crashed in a ditch off 347th and Linden Avenue,  Chisago Lake Township, reported to 9-1-1 about 6:30 a.m. Authorities are trying to determine who the driver was. The owner stated he left the car parked in his driveway.  The vehicle appeared to have been eastbound on 347th, when it left the road taking out a set of curve warning signs and posts.

May 9 a boater cited for lacking personal floatation devices on Sunrise Lake.

Boat motor theft from property at Kismet Isle, Chisago Lake Twsp.  Unit is a 25 hp Honda outboard.

Spraypaint vandalism to bridge on River Road, Rushseba Twsp.

May 8 If you are going to consume beer and are underage, clean up after yourself.  Two individuals were observed setting beer cans down when a deputy approached them as they fished near the Taylors Falls dam. They were cited for minor consumption. They left behind food wrappers and beer cans when they exited the area, and should expect to receive littering citations by mail.

Theft of a cell phone from Emily Jo’s in Shafer.  Item belongs to an employee.

A second degree burglary, May 6  at a home in Rushseba Township reported. Complainant got a license plate number from suspicious car.  A broken window was discovered and among missing items are a 9 mm handgun, Playstation 3 and TV. Suspect is being sought on a warrant.

Deputies cited a person for illegal burning of prohibited materials, May 6, at an address on Lofton, north of Chisago City.

May 5 a car fire resulted in Shafer-Franconia Dept. firefighters being dispatched to near Osceola Road and Highway 95 about 7 p.m.  Fire was extinguished with no problems.
