Chisago Lakes Middle School collects thousands of personal hygiene items
The Chisago Lakes Area Food Shelf has roughly 250 families that come every month for items. The Middle School made a HUGE difference with their collection making 3,770 personal hygiene items available for the families. Here is a breakdown of what the students, staff and families, and community collected: 1,289 rolls of toilet paper, 45 bottles of shampoo, 24 bottles of conditioner, 48 combs, 10 first aid kits, 12 hairbands, three bottles of baby wash, five bottles of mouthwash, 199 bars of soap, 58 deodorants, 1 room spray, one bottle detangle spray, eight luffas, two bottles of lotion, 141 tubes of toothpaste, 630 toothbrushes, 18 hand soaps, 343 shavers, 221 cans of shaving cream, nine boxes of Q-tips, two hair gels, one sunscreen, one bottle of vitamins, 35 boxes of Kleenex, two rolls of paper towels, 15 boxes of tampons, 14 boxes of pads, one bottle of mouthwash, 38 floss, one bag of cotton balls, 37 travel shampoos, 27 travel conditioner, 26 travel lotions, eight travel body wash, and 250 hand sanitizers.
Along with personal hygiene items they collected: 240 beef sticks, two serving trays, two cans of green beans and one can of peas. A BIG thank you to Suzanne G for getting it all ready to be counted and hauled to the food shelf. 600 lbs. This is a great example of how students can make an impact on many lives in our community.
