Long-vacant church is getting new life
Bethesda holds first services this Sunday
Bethesda Church has purchased the former Living Branch Lutheran Missouri Synod-owned facility. Bethesda holds its first services at the North Branch location October 18.
Pastor Mark Matychuk shared his excitement in a phone interview, saying he is anticipating meeting newcomers and also being able to offer this new home for longtime members of Bethesda’s current church community, located in Savage-Prior Lake.
There will be “one church, two locations,” Pastor Mark said. “I really believe God called us to North Branch,” he continued.
Bethesda church, southwest of the Twin Cities has many attendees who live in or near North Branch.
“There was great potential” for a second church site in North Branch, the pastor said. He mentioned he annually participated in a retreat at ARC, and would hear from those attendees that he would see alot of support for a second church in this area if he would start one.
Pastor Mark hopes to be able to bring on an associate in the near future, but for the time-being it’ll be a new experience leading two church sites and traveling between the two.
Pastor Mark’s wife, Kathy serves as music director.
Bethesda, he explained, was established in 1924 in Minneapolis and actually provided the first FM radio station broadcasts in the cities. The church moved to its location in Savage-Prior Lake about 10 years ago.
Bethesda, is associated with Grace Gospel Fellowship and provides a practical approach to a family-oriented Bible teaching worship experience. “It’s a place where families can grow stronger lasting friendships thrive and there is joy in worshipping the Lord.”
Services are at 9 a.m. this Sunday at the new North Branch site, Oct 18. The Sunday School program is at 10:30 a.m. Adult Bible Study is also part of the Sunday experience.
As the extra church hours and weeknight activities are scheduled watch for future announcements.
