The Chisago Lakes Girls Swimming and Diving team is two thirds of the way through its season and has been seeing great improvement over the past nine weeks.

Saturday, October 3 the team traveled to South St. Paul to compete in their Section 4A True Team meet which included schools from Visitation, Hill Murray, Henry Sibley, South Saint Paul, and Minneapolis Roosevelt. Schools they will see again  November 12-14 at the Section 4A State Qualifying meet.

In the diving well, divers Payton Nelson, Alison Stiller, Savannah Gorski, and Madelyn Audette placed first, second, third, and fourth respectively and each set their own personal best for an 11-dive meet.

Although the team placed third overall and will not compete in the State True Team meet the girls had great performances all around.
Other top eight finishes included;  third place in the 100 yard backstroke by Kalli Jo Olson, a fifth place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay with the team of Hannah Stec, Hannah Janzig, Kathryn Crum, and Isle Johnson and seventh place in the 100 yard breaststroke and seventh place in the 100 yard freestyle by Stec, and seventh place finish in the 200 yard medley relay from the team of Olson, Janzig,  Stec, and Danielle Smythe.

“With a month to go until the State Qualifying meet all of the ladies in the pool need to focus on their technique, staying motivated, and staying healthy to have great success for their remaining season,” diving coach Courtney Fairbanks said. “Having one of the longest seasons in high school sports can be mentally tough in addition to being physically demanding. All of their dual conference meets are complete and only sections and state remain.”

In the 2014 season, Nelson and Olson competed at the state meet,  and say they hope to return as well as bring a few teammates with them.
