Lois was born January 31, 1931 to Rodney and Ellen Lifgren in the Chisago City farmhouse. Lois was an excellent student, who loved math. She was employed for 36 years with the US Army Corps of Engineers in the contracting division as a procurement contract specialist. She regularly received annual recognition awards of excellence. After retirement she volunteered for 10 years doing income tax returns for senior citizens. Lois was known for her passion to pick every kind of available wild berries and made jams and pies. She and Sheldon every spring made maple syrup, harvesting from the maple trees on their Harris property. Other hobbies included going to the casino, fishing, and collecting antiques. Her large family was her pride and joy, and she was adamant about hosting a traditional Swedish Christmas Eve celebration.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 28 years Sheldon Hawkinson; sister Lorraine Lifgren, and brother Lyle Lifgren. She is survived by her children Douglas (Marlis) Dick; Lorraine Schletty, Darwin (Barb) Dick, sister-in-law Judy Lifgren; 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were Tuesday October 27 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery in Lindstrom. grandstandfh.com
