Lakes Area Police took a few calls about suspected financial scams...one was a call about paying off an outstanding warrant in another state, and one was an alleged representative of the IRS seeking money so the complainant could avoid a lawsuit. Neither of these are legitimate and if you get these types of calls you should never send money.

August 31 an officer put down a sick raccoon in the area of 275th Street in Chisago City. Animal has been properly disposed of.

September 1 report of vandalism to vehicle parked at West Rush Lake boat access, sometime Aug 31.  Gas line had been cut.

The Lakes Area Department took in a Rottweiler type breed dog September 3 with a collar but no tag. It was on Lofton, off Stacy Trail about 10 p.m.
Lakes Area handled two incidents involving suicide threats.

September 6 a sheriff’s K9 unit was called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Clover Trail near Flickabirds, about 9:45 p.m.. A male suspect had hit another car head-on on the road, and fled, leaving the slightly injured second driver in his vehicle. The dog tracked the suspect into a wooded area and he surrendered. The vehicles were towed and the suspect, age 33, of Harris,  was booked and released for medical attention, and faces charges for DUI, assault and leaving an accident scene.
