Schools in; so much to do in our area, snowmobile, sculptures, runs
Hay Days revs up on Saturday. What is Hay Days? If you have any interest in snowmobiling, no scratch that, if you have any interest in power sports such as ATV, snowmobile, moto-cross, and UTV’s, this is your paradise.
If you are in the market for some new snowmobile parts, or any sport machine, the swap is guaranteed to have what you are looking for. There are thousands of people selling parts for everything from lawn mowers to snowmobiles. On top of that, there are hundreds of hundreds of dealers showcasing their new lines of motorsports, apparel, and services.
There is a freestyle show that features snowmobiles, dirt bikes, and ATVs doing flips and stunts.
The location is 38740 Oriole Avenue in North Branch. There are acres and acres of parking available, but I would encourage you to either come early or ride share with friends.
You will have a great time, and the weather is supposed to be perfect.
Our good friends at Franconia Sculpture Park would love for you to come Saturday, to the annual Art and Artist Celebration. It is the official end-of-season introduction to new sculptures by many wonderful artists. The event is a way to see the beautiful sculptures as well as honor these great artists. The celebration is very family friendly with children encouraged to attend. The celebration begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 8 p.m.
Beginning at 1 p.m., there is entertainment...Eclectic Ensemble is an instrumental group that features an Asian harmonic/middle eastern and Indonesian ambient music.
A youth rock band by the name of Platypus takes the stage at 2:45 p.m. They perform rock covers as well as original music.
Festival Theater will be performing their current production “Noises Off” at 4 p.m.
The New Riverside Ramblers go on at 5 p.m. and the Droppers finish at 7 p.m.
Family activities include a mechanical art-making labratory, ‘boats not afloat’ allows people to create your very own boat sculptures, face painting, spin art, and much more.
I have only mentioned maybe half of all that’s taking place. In other words, come out and have some fun.
Some of you may have received a letter in the mail from us this week. It was a friendly reminder that your yearly subscription is due. I know, you are thinking isn’t that in May? For the bulk of our readers it is, but because of our new website (new being the last 2 years), whomever subscribes online, the date they subscribe becomes their new renewal date. So there were approximately 100 of you whose renewal is due in the near future. We will now send out monthly reminders to all whose subscriptions are nearing end. Oh and the most important part? Thank you for reading!
On Sunday, there is something really neat taking place. St. Croix Regional Medical Center in Lindstrom is proud to announce their “Color Me Crazy” Color Run/Walk. It is a 4.5K family run/walk that takes place at the Chisago Lakes High School. I am sure you have seen or have friends that have participated in color runs. You will begin the race/walk and meander your way through the course all the while being pelted (gently) with various colors. In the end, your clothes will look like a colorful rainbow, and you will have helped a good cause. Prodceeds from the race will help fund local running clubs and the Chisago Lakes Cross Country program.
You are asked to register at 11 a.m. if you have not registered online. There is a Zumba warm up at noon and the race/walk begins at 1 p.m.
With school in, we need to make a concerted effort to keep our eyes peeled for students crossing.
Another driving fact for you young (and old like me) drivers. Did you know that a ticket for texting and driving is $50? Well...did you also know that your second time caught texting and driving shoots up to $225? Same if you offend after that. That is a lot of money. Put the phones down, please!
