The hiccup came in their opening match against familiar foe Princeton. The Vikings won the first set 25-21 before dropping the second 25-20. In the deciding set, the Lady Vikes toppled the Tigers 15-12.
After those close games, none of the teams were able to stay with the Vikes. North Branch crushed Warroad in the second game 25-9, 25-21.
In the third game, North Branch took on Esko and swept them away 25-22, 25-17, which put them in the championship game, where Sartell-St. Stephen awaited.
North Branch overpowered the Sabres in the final match, 25-17, 25-16 to claim the crown in the North Branch Invitational.
Cianna Selbitschka led the Vikings with 25 kills on the day. Kelsey Allaman had 10 kills and Courtney Selbitschka, still easing back into her role, scored 16 kills. Madison Hadrava added 13 kills for the Vikings. Morgen Coleman had 57 assists on the day.
