Hwy. 8 crash sends one to hospital April 12

The state patrol has released preliminary details on the crash about 4:20 p.m. that clogged traffic on Hwy. 8 at the lights at County Road 14 in Lindstrom for a time.  One driver was headed eastbound on Hwy. 8 and the state patrol says this car had the green light.  A driver traveling westbound-- made a left turn on a flashing yellow light and struck the oncoming vehicle.  The patrol provided no descriptions of the vehicles involved.  

The westbound driver was transported by ground ambulance for care. She is identified as Sandra Lee Vaught, 75, Wyoming.  The other driver was unhurt, she is identified as Candice Olson, 63, St. Croix Falls.

Police departments and sheriff’s patrol handled numerous burning complaints.  Make sure you have a good source of water on hand and you are closely overseeing any fire, if you are utilizing a small burn pile and don’t need a permit.   The county is very dry and permits for larger non-recreational debris burning are on hold for now.  

As a couple of stops in a busy saturation for Towards Zero Deaths on April 14-- officers with Lakes Area Police booked a 58-year-old female for DUI about 8 p.m. and cited two males for having beer in a vehicle and paraphernalia possession.  A dozen or so speeding tickets and seatbelt violations were also cited.

Also April 14 North Branch police assisted the DNR at a fire on Forest Blvd. about 4:30 p.m.

April 16 theft from an auction site in Nessel Township reported. Cashier did not receive bid money, loss is about $137.

April 17 the Chisago House reported burglary overnight, discovered about 5 a.m.  Investigators are following up on evidence found, including a cell phone.
North Branch Police and fire went to a boat fire caused by electric malfunction about 11:40 a.m. Sunday April 17. Incident was on 387th Street.
