On Monday, April 25, 2016 the SADD (Students against Destructive Decisions) chapter of Chisago Lakes High School presented the One Choice program that included a Mock Crash scenario along a presentation to students on the dangers of distracted driving. The two day event began with "ghosting out" selected students from their classrooms and having officers from Lakes Area Police Department read a simulated obituary of the student. Following the school day Juniors and Seniors witnessed the crash scenario. This staged event is conducted to allow students to experience what happens in real time during a traumatic event. The goal of the event is to educate young people about the consequences of distracted and impaired driving - and to reinforce the importance of seat belts, paying attention behind the wheel.
