Lois Lorraine Peterson, 73, Deer Park, WI, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 1, 2016.

Lois was the oldest of three children born to Paul and Helen (Landgraver) Peterson. She was born in Minneapolis, MN, on September 7, 1942. She grew up near Chisago City, MN, on the family homestead, which was settled in 1868.

Lois was active in the ministry work at a young age and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1954 at the age of 11. After graduating as valedictorian of her class in 1960, she entered the full-time ministry work for many years. Her ministry extended many miles, including Chisago City, Marshall, MN, and the Amery, WI, area.

In 1962, on December 15, Lois married James Peterson (Yes, she married a Peterson! The joke was she did that so she wouldn’t have to change her name). They settled on Pine Haven Farm two miles northwest of Deer Park, WI, where they have lived for nearly 54 years. There they raised their two sons Joel and Barry.

Lois was a very loving wife and mother. She fit well the description found at Proverbs 31, which describes a capable wife. As a couple, Jim and Lois influenced the lives of many in such positive ways.

In addition to taking care of the farm and running a janitorial service, Jim and Lois were very active members in serval congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.; that included Amery, New Richmond, Glenwood City and Hayward. Lois’ greatest joy was teaching others about her great God Jehovah and the wonderful hope for the future that the Bible promises.

Lois had many treasured qualities. One of her most cherished is how she made others feel. She was never too busy to take the time to give a hug, lend an ear, bring a bouquet of flowers to a sick friend, and of course feed you if you walked through her door. She treated everyone as family and many came to view her that way as well.

Every treasured minute Lois could spend with her four grandchildren was some of her most cherished time. Tyler, Hannah, Logan and Shalynn were truly her treasures. Her heart grew even bigger when she welcomed one more, when Tyler married Chelsea. She was proudly watching all of them develop qualities that she held dear, including their spiritual heritage. Granny will be dearly missed by them.

Lois was an extremely hard worker in all she did. This included her love of gardening, especially her beautiful flowers, which she would share with others whenever possible. Her thoughtfulness also came through in remembering others on their special occasions. They would often receive a loving card with kind words, along with a special poem or a photocopied joke!

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Helen Peterson, along with her younger sister June Kardell. She is survived by her loving husband Jim; her sons and their families;  Joel, Cath, Tyler, Chelsea and Hannah; Barry, Michele, Logan and Shalynn, her brother Loren and wife Linda, brother-in-law Darrell Kardell; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is also survived by a very large spiritual family which is too numerous to count. All are waiting for the time as described at Revelation 21:3, 4 when Lois will be resurrected back to a paradise earth.

Memorial services will be held at the Amery High School Auditorium Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 3 p.m. with visitation the hour before the service.  There will also be a casual visitation held at the Peterson Home, 1230 County Road A, Deer Park, Wisconsin Friday, August 12 from 4 to 7 p.m.  You may sign an online guest book and view a video tribute at www.williamsonwhite. com.  The Williamson-White Funeral Home and Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements.
