The sheriff’s K9 dog that had just officially retired in June (Story Press June 9) after giving years of service to the county, has passed away.

Kilo was a great personality when he worked public events and visited kids’ programs, said Sheriff Rick Duncan.  In announcing Kilo’s death, Sheriff Duncan said Kilo gave seven years while tirelessly working alongside his handler Deputy Swenson.  The sheriff added, “While not at work Kilo was a loyal companion to Deputy Swenson and a protector of his home and family.”  Kilo passed away at the Swenson’s home August 24.
