Orrin was born on April 23, 1928 in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin to parents, Wallace and Clara (Brandt) Asklund. He lived in Sunrise on a farm he purchased in 1956 and lived there until his death. He attended Kost School and later in North Branch where he graduated in 1946. In high school he excelled at track and field. Orrin served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Jean Norlund and they were married for 63 years living in Sunrise and raising their three boys. Orrin worked at the Mounds Park Hospital and later at St. Paul Ramsey Hospital as an orderly for 30 years. He was a member of the Chisago County Historical Society and the North Branch American Legion Post #85. He loved people, playing cards and going out to eat at the Stuga in Harris.
Orrin is survived by his three sons; Kerry (Brenda) Asklund of Rush City, Keith (Jody) Asklund of Sunrise and Kyle (Judy) Asklund of North Branch. Also, his six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; sisters in law, JoAnn (Lloyd) Swedeen and Doris Norlund.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean in 2015; brother Duane and brother in law, Clemens Norlund.
Funeral services 11 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Sunrise Bible Church in Sunrise with Pastor David Stertz officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Interment followed the service at Sunrise Cemetery with military honors provided by the North Branch American Legion Post #85.
