I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas.  Ours was great. We already had our Christmas with the in-laws and the Silver Christmas is over New Year’s weekend, so we had absolutely no plans.  This turned out to be a good thing, because as you know, the weather was bizarre to say the least.  Pouring rain with a driving wind all day long. Yuck.

The one shining part of the dreary day was the new puppy our family got.  Our kids since they could walk and talk have been pleading for a dog.  Year after year we have found an excuse to not get one.  Well this one came along and it was just too cute to turn down.  On a long weekend where the kids would have normally been in their rooms with their presents after they had become bored with us, now turned into a weekend of everyone in the living room playing with the new toy.  So far, everything is going great.  Oh, except taking the dog out to pee or go for a walk.  Still have to work that into THEIR schedule.

Thank you so much to all of the wonderful volunteers who took time from their families and Christmas to help with the community Christmas Meal. The meal was held at First United Methodist Church in Lindstrom on Christmas Day.  These great people served over 100 guests who chose to not be alone on Christmas.  My heart burns with pride and joy when I see how this community puts others first.  There is such a huge mass of people in Chisago County that want nothing more than to make sure our friends and neighbors are taken care of.  Man, I love this place.

This weekend is New Year’s Eve weekend.  This is notoriously one of the biggest party weekends of the year.  I have been there, done that, and felt the pain the day after.  I understand people want to let loose and that is great, but please, please, have a plan to make it home safely.  We do not want to print any obituaries of you or your friends.  Play it safe, please.

If your family still has a Christmas or two to celebrate, a subscription to the Chisago County Press makes a wonderful gift.  It lasts a year and is never the same twice.
