Faux Celebration of the Lakes was still fun despite not being official, Home Show tab

I hope you had a chance to get out and enjoy some of the spectacular weather we had over the weekend.  I was able to get out and take in some of the Celebration of the Lakes (yes, I know it was officially cancelled) events over theweekend. The kids clinic was great, the kids fishing tournament was great (especially after the fish started to bite).  The 5K race in Center City was well attended.  Frankie’s fishing tournament had as many teams as I have ever seen in it.  Even the out of state fishermen were so complimentary of our area. They all say they love it here and the fishing is awesome.

The fishing must be awesome, if you have seen Chisago Lake lately, there are thousands of fishermen in house, on four wheelers, in cars, trucks, you name it they are out on the ice.  The temps were in the 40’s and the fish were biting.  Everything was great (except a lot of comments from fishermen about an airplane that was flying “very close” to them on the ice.)

I know the official Celebration was cancelled, but folks still found ways to have some great fun on the lakes.

Once again as I write this, the second official “snomageddon” or as my wife told me theWeather Channel has officailly named the winter storm Kayla. Absolutely frightening name, ooh we better stock up storm Kayla is coming!  The local weathermen and women are in heaven right now.  This is what they dream about.  Personally other than shoveling, I love snow. It is the sub-arctic temps that get to me.  But I say bring on the snow.  Maybe I am getting old (save your jokes) but I can remember many storms where we got 20 plus inches of snow.  I remember in highschool riding our snowmobiles right down Highway 8 in Lindstrom, no cars anywhere.  I don’t have a snowmobile anymore, but I am ready with my red plastic sled to trudge down Highway 8.

We are beginning to put together our 2016 Home, Business and Garden circular.  The tab will go to 16,000 homes and be distributed throughout the area.  It is a great vehicle for businesses that specialize in home, or business related services and goods.  If you are planning on being in the show, please give us a call at 651-257-5115 and we will be happy to help you create a great message that will be seen by 50,000 eyes.  If you are not planning on being in the show, you are still invited to advertise in the piece.  It is a great avenue to showcase your business and get your brand out to the public. I have said this before, we are here to help. we are not here to chase the dollar.  we are here to make sure your business is tomorrow.

I would like to welcome a few more advertisers into our family here at the Press. Gopher State Storage in Linwood and Danielson Brothers Landscaping. These are a few great local businesses that would love to help you out with storage and landscaping needs.

Thank you to all who have recently donated clothing for the homeless shelters. Your donations mean the world to those who you help.
