Sally Jean Brandenburg of Shafer, MN, passed away at Regions Hospital in St Paul, MN, after a brief illness. Growing up in New Brighton, MN, she attended St John the Baptist School through 8th grade. She then entered the Convent of the Sisters of St Francis in Sylvania, OH, where she finished high school at the convent’s St Claire Academy and went to Lourdes College. After leaving the convent, Sally returned to Minnesota where she worked for 43 years at Hazelden/Betty Ford in Center City.
Sally loved to paint and draw and do calligraphy, but took great joy in her singing, attending St Catherine University in St Paul studying voice. Anyone who heard her sing shared in her joy. Sally sang for many years in the choir at St Bridget of Sweden Church in Lindstrom, which was important to her. She adored living in her home on Bloom Lake where she was thrilled by wildlife and wetlands visitors like loons, eagles, swans and her resident Sandhill Cranes. She loved her son, her family, and her grandchildren, Orrin and Hazle, were the lights of her life.
Predeceased by her parents, Herbert L. and Marjorie C. Brandenburg. She is survived by her son, David Robotti (Jessica) and her precious grandchildren Orrin, 10, and Hazle, 6. She is also survived by her siblings; Susan Brandenburg, Joyce McLaughlin (Michael), David Brandenburg (Cheryl), Scott Brandenburg (Mary), Joel Brandenburg (Mary) and Janet Alexander (Frank), and several nieces and nephews.
