Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies went to a barn fire Tuesday, Feb. 9 in Fish Lake Township on Anchor Avenue, about 5 p.m. The structure was a total loss and the cause is believed to be heat lamps being used to warm a litter of piglets.

February 13 thefts from fish shacks on East Rush Lake reported.  Loss includes Vexilar FL8 Marcum Pro, Jiffy model 30 auger, total of three 20 lb propane tanks, and a DVD player and cord, and a rod.

Deputies responded to a report of a car off the road and probably saved an intoxicated woman from freezing to death. She was faint and was taken to Fairview for care. She was cited for DUI after a warrant was gotten for a blood draw.

Incidents related to use of social media continue to take up authorities’ time.  Threats allegedly posted on-line against a high school student in Lindstrom was reported Feb. 12. to Lakes Area Police.

Authorities also had a walk-in complaint filed by a Chisago City resident reporting extortion, where the victim is threatened with the posting of “explicit video” on social media if they don’t send money.

A student at Chisago Lakes Middle School was cited for having an e-cigarette on grounds and another student was found to have marijuana in his possession.  The parking lot at the middle school (east side) was also identified in a complaint submitted to Lakes Area police, as the scene of an alleged criminal sexual assault in 2005. This incident is under investigation.

A home on County Road 14 north of Lindstrom sustained damage when a vehicle struck the building Feb. 14 about 8 p.m. A 44-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving.

Lakes Area Police have a phone that was turned in after someone found it on the sidewalk in downtown Lindstrom Feb. 11. Call the police offices and describe in detail to claim.  The department is also holding a “wad” of cash found Feb. 13 at a business in Lindstrom.
