This weekend you will find a great insert in your Search Shopper. We have put together a great piece for the 2016 Chisago Lakes Home and Business Expo.  It is filled with innovative ideas to improve your home and businesses.  The tab also features tons of advertisements from local businesses that are each offering something great for your home and businesses.  We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did creating it.

Speaking of the show, make sure to clear your schedule next weekend.  The Home Show will take place March 5 and 6 at the Chisago Lakes High school.  This year the show is filled with great vendors including a lot of new ones.

Have children and would like to attend the show but worry they might become bored?  We have it all taken care of for you.  We are super excited to present “Anna and Elsa” of the very poular movie Frozen. They will be singing each day and then available for photos afterwards.  They will take the stage at 1 p.m. on both days.  Plan on bringing your cameras!

Congratulations to Aaron Sistrunk, Teddy Pierce, Adam Klick and Kyle Schoenecker. These four have qualified for the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament. They will wrestle Friday morning.  The session begins at 9 a.m. at the Xcel Energy Center. This is Kyle’s sixth appearance at state, Teddy’s third and Aaron’s second appearance. Adam is making his first appearance.  I will be there, hopefully you will be as well.

Congratulations to Keeley Ertl who competed at the state gymnastics meet. Keeley made it in the all around and in the vault. She did great finishing ninth on the vault.  She is a great gymnast and we will be writing about her at state in the next few years.

Congratulations to Morgen Coleman who just scored her 1,000th point for the Viking girls basketball team.  Quite an accomplishment.

Bachman’s Photography is holding a really fun contest.  They are asking you to guess the official ice-out date.  Simply email them at [email protected] or call them at 651-257-9380.  Guesses must be submitted no later than March 10. The winner will receive a $25 gift certificate.  It reminds me of the days when they used to put an old beat up car on the lake and the public would guess when it would fall through the ice.  It must not have been good for the lake, but it sure was fun.

I got a call from CarolAnn Bartz this week. We were discussing her book signing at the library.  For those of you who do not know about her book, she wrote a beautiful tribute to her son Zac who battled a rare, painful form of cancer that took his life a few years back.  We have the books available here at the Press if you would like to purchase one.  The book is on its second printing and is doing well.

CarolAnn’s publicist decided to submit the book to a screenwriter friend who has written some pretty popular and successful films.  Pretty cool.  She should know soon if it is green-lighted or not.  Imagine seeing Zac’s story on the big screen, which touched us all so deeply.  Keep your fingers crossed.
Businesses, don’t miss your chance to advertise in the 2016 Chisago Lakes Community and Visitor Guide. The guide will go to Chisago County homes and be dispersed to waiting rooms and offices all year long.  Call us at 651-257-5115 to get in the guide!
