The two fifth grade classes from Chisago Lakes Taylors Falls and Lakeside Elementary Schools,  went to St Cloud State University last week for “Science Rocks” an annual event for advanced learners. There were 20 Chisago Lakes students attending, according to curriculum director Sarah Schmidt. In total 800 students from all across the state participated.

“Science Rocks” is full of unique experiences introducing students to physics, biology, geology and more. The event includes hands-on learning with pendulums, insects, solar system models, pollution in water, both before (dirty) and after (cleaned.) There’s lasers, a knee dissection, live wildlife and  more.  The conference is supported by the High Potential-Gifted Student Program and coordinated through the Resource Training & Solutions Cooperative based at St Cloud.
