Chisago Lakes advances to semi's, more news on winter celebrations
If they advance beyond that, they will compete for the grand prize of $3 million. Wouldn’t that be something if they (our community) won? Just think of some of the wonderful projectss they could do with that money.
Congratulations to all of you who have worked so hard on this unique opportunity!
We at the Press are getting ready to begin working on our 2016 Chisago Lakes Community and Visitor Guide.
The guide is filled with great local information, basically anything you need to know about the area is in the guide. Businesses, this is your chance to get in this. Your business ad will appear all year long; and be in dentist offices, doctor offices, hospitality sites, post offices, libraries and everywhere else you can think of. If you would like to be included in this year’s guide please give us a call at 651-257-5115 or email us at [email protected]. We will help you get a great message out to the public that will help you increase business.
If there is one thing that I hate to do, it has to be writing about something that I wrote about before that is not correct. I am sorry to say that the Lions Ice Fishing Contest is officially cancelled. Not really sure why, but it is. So all of you who possibly made plans to attend the tournament, I am sorry. Obviously the ice thickness is not the reason for the cancellation, I think with the weather the way it was early in this winter season, they didn’t feel the need to organize manpower to pull the contest off. Now, after what seems like an eternity of sub-zero temperatures, many Lions have already made plans. So again, I apologize for passing along false information.
There are still some exciting things taking place next weekend. There is a polka dance, a spaghetti dinner, a kids’ fishing clinic at the Center City Fire Hall, a huge ice fishing contest that Frankie’s Live Bait, and the NAIFC is putting on January 29-31.
On top of all of that, Scandia is holding its annual Vinterfest. If you have a group of friends that love to play hockey, there is a “Scanley Cup” tournament that begins on Friday January 29. There is a pancake breakfast, a pig roast, vintage snowmobile show and ride, a snow sculpting contest, sledding, and an ice fishing on Goose Lake. Pleasant Valley Cloggers will perform and the event finishes with a fireworks show. We will have a detailed schedule of events in next week’s paper. But mark your calendars and plan to spend some time in Scandia.
