It is here! Karl Oskar Days is here.  The celebration actually began Wednesday night with Harmony in the Park.  Wednesday is also the beginning of the hunt for Daniel Lindstrom’s lost snuff box.  The rules are simple, find the snuff box, earn some cold, hard cash.  Keep in mind the snuff box can only be hidden on public property. Please respect private property.

Today (Thursday), there is a camera club show at the Library at 10 am and runs all day long.  Ladies, grab your girlfriends and head to Lindstrom for “Downtown Diva Night”.  There will be wonderful specials all dedicated to those of the female persuasion.  Top that off with Lindstrom Liquors hosting a wine tasting and you have a great night.

Friday the crafters and vendors open up in Memorial Park. There is a ton of new vendors this year that are offering some really great products and services.  Beginning st 3 p.m., there is a guided walking tour of downtown Lindstrom.  They will be meeting at the Press and meandering throughout the downtown.

Down at Beach Park there is all kinds of fun taking place.  You can enjoy a painting and wine event, live music by Chase Midnight, a kiddie parade, and a free family movie “Inside Out”.  New this year is a beer garden at the beach run by the Rotary Club.  They will have fun inexpensive gifts for kids.  Friday is completed with one of the best local fireworks shows in the area.

Saturday begins with a golf tournament and the largest 5K in the county - The Lindstrom Loppet.  beginning at 9 a.m. There is the always popular classic car show held at St. Bridgets Church.  At Memorial Park, ages 13-20 are invited for Cookies & Canvas where they will get to paint and enjoy snacks.  There is a volleyball tournament at Beach Park that begins at 10 a.m.  Also at 10 is the 3 on 3 basketball tournament held at Trinity Church.  The tournament is open for all ages, and registration begins at 9.  The Ki Chi Saga Park Karl Oskar House will be open for tours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  and everyone’s favorite the Karl Oskar Days parade begins at 6.  The night is capped-off with a street dance where Hitchville will headline.  They are a great band who plays a little bit of everything.

Sunday begins with a pancake breakfast at the Masonic Temple at 8 a.m.  Back at Beach Park, there will be fitness classes offered as well as a blackbelt demonstration and Captain Kirby mini-train rides.  The whole weekend wraps up with the crowning of the 2016 ambassadors at the PAC at the high school at 4:30 p.m.
A lot to digest, but I would encourage you to come out and take in as much as you can, this is the stuff that make our communities so very special.

Last week, I invited the public to a great community meal sponsored by A Brush with Kindness.  The meal takes place on July 20 before the Harmony in the Park begins.

The meal will run from 5 to 6:15 and is held at Trinity Lutheran Church.  Last week I told you it was at Zion.  I apologize, it would be somewhat difficult to walk from Zion to Harmony in the Park considering Zion church is in Chisago City.

We need to apologize again for another bit of information we had wrong last week.  We had an upcoming for a Civil War program at Folsom House in Taylors Falls.  The info provided said the event was June 25 and July 25 and we had it as July 25.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
