The film shoot for “The House of Tomorrow” finished early this week, with a final party scene indoors at Natural Spaces Dome Homes’ headquarters.
Owner Dennis Johnson said the party scene was expected to go into the wee hours of the morning, and he and his wife stayed elsewhere to get some shut-eye. He added that the movie scenes have been interesting to observe and the film team could not be more pleasant to work with, although some requests were last-minute.
He was told the film has a commitment for a slot, to compete at Sundance Film Festival next year.
The movie is based on a book by the same name, by Minnesota author Peter Bognanni. The coming of age and importance of relationships themes of the book were actually set in a small town in Iowa. Actress Ellen Burstyn plays the main character’s grandmother, who resides in a geodesic dome home. Nick Offerman and Maude Apatow are also in the film.
