Local voters back Cruz and Trump over Rubio -- Sanders over Clinton
The Chisago County precinct information reported to the MN Secretary of State’s office showed Cruz got Republican caucus support from 511. Marco Rubio, who won Minnesota, had 289 local precinct voters in his corner...less than Donald Trump, whose support in this county generated straw ballots from 337 caucus attendees. Carson and Kasich came in with 87 and 31 respectively from caucus ballots in the county.
On the DFL side-- Bernie Sanders won Minnesota and also the local voters who attended caucuses. Sanders saw Senate District 32 which includes most of Chisago County, go 947 for Sanders to 627 for Hillary Clinton.
Senate District 39, which covers the southeast corner of Chisago County went for Sanders as well, but the vast majority of SD 39 population is in Washington County. There was no caucus data broken down just for Chisago County resident voters. Totals for Senate District 39 DFL caucus goers was 1,566 for Sanders and 1,288 for Clinton.
