This Sunday is the largest, most important holiday of them all. Yes, I am going to talk religion for a minute. This is the weekend where Jesus died and rose from the dead. This is what churches have built their foundation upon since that day 2016 years ago.  You may not believe in Jesus, God or religion, but you acknowledge it daily when you write the date. I am not writing this to chastise any who choose to not believe, rather I am writing this to publically share with those who choose to believe and celebrate this incredible event.

This Sunday, take a moment (or two, or three) to stop and think of the magnitude of what we are celebrating. It is not a day that the Easter Bunny created, it is an incredible day that God chose to create not so long ago.

Chisago Lake Lutheran Center City is in need of your help.  The church which has been in existence since 1854, has been home to hundreds of area families, is in need of an improvement.  They are hoping, with the help of the public to raise enough money to build a handicap accessible bathroom and gathering room. The church as many of you know, is not just utilized by thier congregation, but many others use it throughout the year. I am so very proud to say that I am part of a wonderful group called “A Brush with Kindness”.  We are a non-profit group that helps low income families with repairing and renovating their homes so they can continue to live in safe, decent homes.  Examples of jobs we take on are: painting, landscaping, wheelchair ramps, and other minor exterior repairs.
We have helped tons of families over the years. Here is where you come in. WE NEED PROJECTS!  Over the years we have built a wonderful group of volunteers all who are sitting by the phone eagerly waiting for a call to help.  Please, if you or your neighbor or someone you know has a home in disrepair, please call us.  We have too many wonderful volunteers to just sit home.  We want to help!  This is everyone’s community, this is your chance to help everyone feel better about this place.

We are rounding the corner on our 2016 Community Guide. We have had a great response from businesses who wish to be in the guide. Next Thursday at Hazelden there is a really great program that all women are invited to. It is the 2016 Women’s Health Conference.  On Thursday, you are invited to a free interactive health fair that begins at 5:30 pm. Then at 7 pm Lisa Rambow from The Biggest Loser will share her success story that will inspire those of you looking to make a change.  The event takes place at the Cork Center in Center City.
