The Park Island Resort building, in Center City, started coming down last week. The structure is over 100 years old-- MN Historical Society archives contain hotel photos dating to 1910. Center City officials and the private owner have been working towards demolition of the building vacant for several years. It was last-used as a multi-unit dwelling for developmentally delayed adults and was shutdown by state regulators. The first phase of demo called for removing the contemporary siding, picture shows heavy machinery that pulled it off the wood frame, loading the siding into a roll-off container. This took a couple days. Walls started to come down a few days later.
