Pumphouse Park opening was great; subscriptions are due very soon
I spent a lot of my youth out on that field. We used to play baseball until dark every day in the summer time with many of my friends. It was such a great place to play. We must have broken the brown house behind center field’s window about six times. Luckily, the man who lived there was very easy going, and we just had to give him $7.10 for a new window.
Mark Wilson was one of the kids that was always there with us playing ball. Mark had an incredible curve ball even back then. Who would have guessed that he would now be a scout for the Twins. It was so great seeing him dedicate the field and it was even neater seeing his mom Sue Wilson there. Thanks to all who came out on Saturday, it was a great time and we now have the best little league field around.
Last week I wrote about Mother’s Day and wished everyone a happy day. I mistakenly left someone out of my Mother’s Day wishes. If you have read my column in the past, you know who I am referring to, my Grandmother. My Grandmother is and has been the most influential person in my life. When my parents passed away she was the one who stepped in and became my rock. She is the one whose call I look forward to each and every week. She is the one who taught me the importance of God. She is incredible. So Gram, if you are reading this, please accept my belated Happy Mother’s Day, I love you.
If you are a garage sale junkie like myself, this is your week. Chisago City is holding their annual community garage sale event. Sales will go May 12-15. You can pick up a map at Chisago City Hall.
Also happening in Chisago Lakes is the annual community clean-up. There is a twist this year, you are asked to please bring your unwanted stuff to SRC in Wyoming. The address is 6320 Viking Blvd East. Residents will receive a deep discount. The event runs May 16-21 and SRC is open 8-4:30 and 8-1pm Saturday.
If you have already sent in your subscription renewal. I thank you very much. If you have not, I would encourage you to do so soon. Because very soon we will be forced to stop delivering to those whom we have not received payment. If you have not, don’t fret. We can get you back up and going in just a few seconds. You can either give us a call at 651-257-5115 or send us a check for $47 to PO Box 748, Lindstrom, MN 55045. It is never something we enjoy doing, but it does cost us to mail the papers out.
In our house there is always a running joke about how old we are. You see, my wife is older than me (only two weeks) and it never fails to be brought up. Always in good fun, she is the one who gets teased about getting her AARP card soon or needing her shawl. Well on Saturday, the tables turned. As I was coming down our stairs, I leaned down to pet our cat. After giving one good pet I realized I was not petting the cat at all. I was petting my jacket I had thrown down the stairs the night before. Who is getting old now?
