Where are the power lines? 'Let's Go Fishing' could really use your help
Let’s Go Fishing is a wonderful non-profit organization that takes senior citizens, veterans and youth that are disabled. They have been bringing happiness to many Chisago County residents over the years. I can’t say enough about Let’s Go Fishing. Up until now, the entire Chisago County has been serviced by one boat from the organization. You can imagine the demands for outings were greater than the good folks could keep up with. Well we have some wonderful news, a generous donor (whom I might mention next week if I have permission) has graciously donated the use of another pontoon boat which will primarily be used in the Chisago Lakes area. With the additional boat, comes the need for financial support and the need for volunteers. This is a wonderful chance to do some real good in this world. You will feel great about yourself knowing you are helping such a wonderful cause. If you do not have money to donate, it is totally understandable, but they can use your volunteer time as well. Please call Joe at 651-261-4812 or email him at [email protected].
Thanks to all of you who responded to my call for subscription renewals. We still have a small group of people who have not renewed as of yet. Sadly, we will be cutting you off this week. Don’t fret, we can get you up and going in an instant. Just call us at 651-257-5115 or mail your check for $47 to PO Box 748, Lindstrom, MN 55045. I will make sure you don’t miss a single issue of the Chisago County Press. Once again, I thank each and every reader for picking up the Chisago County Press every week. We put our heart and soul into this paper and we hope you love it as much as we do.
Summer must be around the corner. Why you say? Because beginning this Friday, the Chisago City Farmer’s Market kicks off its season. This week, the highlight of the farmer’s market will be a plant and veggie sale. Perfect timing for those of us who are chomping at the bit to plant our gardens. The market is Friday afternoons beginning at 2 pm and going until 6:30 pm every Friday all summer long.
Speaking of Summer, I had the chance to get out on the boat Saturday with a good friend for the fishing opener. As you might recall, Saturday morning was 38 degrees with wind in the 20 mph range. I really didn’t want to go, my bed was so warm and breakfast at home seemed so inviting. But as we have done for so many years now, we braved the elements and headed out. If it wasn’t for the commeraderie, I would have not made it. It took about six hours to finally thaw out, well worth it.
Carp fishermen, the annual Frankie’s/Lions Carp tournament is just around the corner. Now is the time to register your team. Over $15,000 in cash prizes along with a G3 boat will be given away. See page 22 for details.
